Bedroom Upgrades for Footloose

The left photo above is the original bedroom on footloose. The decorative
overhead frame served no useful purpose and the reading lights that were installed
beneath it could not even be reached when laying in bed. The shelf above the
bed was only about 4 inches deep and was also virtually worthless.
The mirror was in a frame that actually covered a large empty unused space
and what we thought was a 4 inch shelf actually extended back 12 inches.
We had a friend make us a cabinet frame with three drop down doors and a false
bottom that could be installed about 12 inches above the shelf. Peggy now
has a large linen storage area, the shelf is large enough to be functional,
and the reading lights are beneath the cabinet where they can be reached while
in bed. We re-mounted the mirror in the area behind bed and beneath shelf
to accent a rather dull surface.
I replaced the two small wall sconces with low current LED reading lights
that have flexible arms. They are hard to see in this photo because they are
black.
We also shoved fiberglass insulation in every open void we could find behind
the bed and side cabinets while we had everything apart.
This is the small 30 inch ceiling fan & light we mounted over the bed
to provide some air movement on hot summer nights. I used one of the compact
flourescent bulbs in the light fixture.
