Refrigerator Upgrade
August 2001

The photo on the left shows the original Norcold refrigerator
which was actually on a platform about a foot above floor.
The right photo shows the new Dometic propane refrigerator that we installed
this summer (2001).
I had to modify the cabinet since the new unit was 8 inches taller than the
Norcold. I also completely insulated the box using 1/2 Inch foil covered foam
sheeting layered to achieve 1 inch minimum on both sides and back.
The doors that were originally at bottom of the compartment were moved to the
top and I had to build out the face of the box about an inch to clear the roof
curve with the cooling fins on the back of the refrigerator.
This is one of the New Dimensions Refrigerators that has 9.6 CF of inside storage
space as opposed to the 6.2 CF with the old Norcold. It also has ice maker

I really hated to cut a hole in the side of Footloose but the Propane refer
had to have air.
